When researching which products you will choose for your next sleep set, you will be confronted with a sleep component called Latex which has received much recent exposure in the media which is not to be confused with Visco Elastic Memory Foam. Memory Foam has been utilized in the mattress industry for more than 30 years. Recently this product has been offered by a major brand touting the superior quality of all foam mattresses and their benefits. In reality, the best utilization of memory foam is to combine it with other fibers and foams in a sleep surface and place this combination on top of a well constructed latex based mattress. This will achieve what you a consumer is seeking, which is well rested night’s sleep.

What is Latex?
Latex is rubber that is harvested from the tropical Hevea Brasilinesis trees, essentially "Rubber Trees". The Latex milk is harvested from these tress in specified amounts and then the tree is marked not to be harvested again for an allotted amount of time to allow for the tree to rejuvenate and be reused versus being cut down.

Where Does Latex Come From?
Our Latex is harvested from trees, much like maple syrup is in Sri Lanka, Cambodia. Once harvested, the raw materials are then shipped to the USA to begin the process of manufacturing a Nature's Rest Sleep Product.

    Dunlop VS Talalay
The Dunlop process is a way to process latex to make a mattress. We do not use the Dunlop process as it is inferior to the Talalay process we do use. The dunlop process is poured into a pin mold, filled 100% and baked to vulcanize. The Dunlop process ends here. The Talalaly process is similar, although there are many more steps. First the raw latex is poured into a pin mold, filled less than 100%. This pin mold forms holes inside the mattress to help the latex draw the heat away from your body as you sleep resulting in a cooler nights' rest. The oxygen is then vacuumed out of the mold, rubber is blown to fill the mold and flash frozen. The latex is then heated or "cooked" to approximately 200+ degrees to vulcanize the materials and then washed 5 times to achieve it's anti-microbial state. Nature's Rest mattresses provide the perfect balance of comfort and support so you can enjoy deep, sound sleep night after night. Nature's Rest latex instantaneously conform to the shape of your body, gently supporting and comforting you all night long, with up to 33% more pressure relief than other foam bedding. So you can awaken refreshed and rejuvenated to meet the challenges of the day---without the tossing and turning, without the pain and stiffness that disrupts a good night's restful sleep.
  • Talalay Latex is exceptionally durable and highly resilient - it is the most naturally durable cushioning material available.
  • Talalay Latex is 3 times more durable than Dunlop processed latex.
  • Talalay latex is breathable. It is 4 times more breathable than polyurethane, memory foam, or Dunlop processed latex.

  • Latex VS Memory Foam
Why is Latex Better Than Memory Foam?

  • Latex is NATURAL - It's green. This means that when exposed to direct sunlight for a period of time latex will breakdown and is very much biodegradable. Plus, since it's derived from Nature Grown Rubber Trees we are putting these resources right back where they came from when we are finished with them!
  • Latex breathes! When lying on memory foam, the foam prevents your body heat from escaping. While lying on a Natures Rest Latex mattress the pin hold poured design naturally draws this heat away from your body, allowing you to sleep cooler. One more, we have manufactured our mattresses with escape screens for the body heat to escape through the screen built into the side of your mattress so it doesn't just rest inside your sleep set making you too warm.
  • Latex gives and instant response to your touch! Both your pressure and body heat will make this mattress instantly conform to your body to give you an instant end result of conformation that foam sleepers must wait for their bed to warm up before softening. This provides up to 33% more pressure relief than conventional foam and fiber cushioning materials, faster.
  • More Durable! Nature's Rest Latex is 3 times more durable than Dunlop processed latex and memory foam. This is due to the washing system that makes Talalay different about all other processes. This process is slightly more expensive to manufacturer, however, the end result is an increase in performance and extended durability.
  • Anti-Microbial!This is ideal for allergy sufferers! It's naturally hypoallergenic, dust mite resistant and anti-microbial, inhibiting the growth of bacteria mold, and mildew. No artificial or synthetic materials have been added to provide these benefits.

What if I am allergic to Latex?
It is a common misconception that people are "allergic to latex". Most allergies of latex are not of the actual material of latex but rather the process in which it's manufactured. Our Nature's Rest Talalay latex is only infused with water based raw materials: water, air, and natural latex. The Latex is washed in a 5 stage 5 times to ensure it's purity. It is then transported to a two-lane dryer, which completes the curing process and removes any residual moisture. Nature's Rest latex, because of this process, is hypo-allergenic. Dust mites, bugs of any sort, and allergens cannot build in the Nature's Rest mattresses. This naturally occurring phenomenon allows us to require no need for use of synthetic materials to prevent the build up of mold, mildew, and bacteria.

Is Nature's Rest made in the USA?
The Nature's Rest Latex is processed and manufacturer in the USA. The raw materials are imported.

How is Nature's Rest latex made?
Natural latex is extracted from the tropical rubber tree in a way that is similar to tapping a maple tree for syrup. Natural and man-made latex's, soaps and rubber curing agents are precisely mixed in a temperature-controlled, stainless steel tank. Quality checks are performed on Ph, viscosity and temperature. The compound mix is transferred to the pressroom where it is whipped into a frothy liquid form with the consistency of vanilla soft serve ice cream; a robotic arm then injects the foamed liquid latex into an aluminum pin core mold. The pins create our unique aerated cell structure which will keep you cool through out the night. The robotic systems distribute the mixture evenly to ensure consistency and product density. The mold is sealed and a vacuum is pulled to extract air and completely fill the mold cavity with latex. The latex is chilled at a temperature below freezing. Freezing (unique to the Talalay process) prevents particles from settling and ensures a consistent cell structure. CO2 is introduced to gel the latex. The mold is heated to temperatures in excess of 200 degrees Fahrenheit to cure the core as it is baked into its final state. The latex is removed from the mold and placed on a conveyor belt that carries it through a five-stage fresh water rinsing—the only one of its kind in the industry. Five banks of 12 self-cleaning water jets wash away residual soaps, curing agents and proteins. The Mattress is transported to a two-lane dryer, which completes the curing process and removes any residual moisture. Once dry, every mattress core undergoes a rigorous nine-point pressure/firmness/consistency test to ensure all cores meet stringent quality standards with even density across the core.
